Autumn 2021, a brand new museum opens by Oslo’s waterfront, tailor Munch produced several versions of The Scream. Two of them are paintings, where one belongs to the National Gallery in Oslo, and the second to the Munch Museum. The Scream is based on an experience Munch had when he was walking with two friends in Ekebergåsen on the outskirts of Christiania. He described his experience in several texts: The Munch Museum serves as Munch's official estate; it has been active in responding to copyright infringements as well as clearing copyright for the work, such as the appearance of Munch's The Scream in a 2006 M&M's advertising campaign. Painted in 1893, Munch’s iconic Scream was donated to the National Gallery in 1910. In terms of its fame, this painting now rivals works such as Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa (1503) and Van Gogh’s Sunflowers (1888). Few artworks have inspired filmmakers, cartoonists and other artists to the extent that The Scream has done. The painting is a radical and timeless expression of human fear. Edvard Munch: The Scream. To promote an online contest created by Adobe in collaboration with The Munch Museum in Oslo, I was asked to paint my own personal interpretation of Edvard Munch's most famous painting »The Scream«. Together with great Photoshop brush maker Kyle T. Webster they recreated digital versions of the more than 100-year-old original brushes used by Munch.

In 1892 Munch painted the picture Sick Mood at Sunset. Despair, a motif that bears many similarities to The Scream. The colours, the format and size, the landscape and background figures – all are the same. Nevertheless, The Scream is radically different, because the main figure has been changed.
